Ten Rainbows Children’s Foundation is honoured to be the charity of choice for Brian Savage as he competes on Battle of the Blades this season.
Excelling in golf, track and hockey, Brian Savage is the true definition of an all-round athlete. His endless skills and successes will make him an unstoppable competitor in season four of Battle of the Blades. After playing with the Sudbury Cubs, Brian received a scholarship to Miami of Ohio University where he was drafted 8th round by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. During the 1992-93 season, his final year at Miami, Brian was honoured onto the CCHA First All-Star Team, NCAA West Second All-American Team, and won the CCHA Player of the Year Award. Following his University career, Brian was chosen to play for Team Canada during the 1994 Winter Olympics, where he won Silver in the final game against Sweden. After the Olympics, Brian began to build is career playing for the Fredericton Canadiens before joining the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens. Due to his exceptional talents, it wasn’t long until he started setting multiple game records. In October 1996, he achieved the first hat trick in Canadien’s history at the Bell Centre and during a game against the New York Islanders in 1999, became the first Canadien (since Joe Malone in 1917) to score six points in a road game. Eventually Brian was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes in January 2002 and later played with the St. Louis Blues before completing his career in 2006 with the Philadelphia Flyers. Along with his NHL achievements, Brian has worn and represented Team Canada’s jersey four times throughout his career and was a member of Canada’s World Championship team in 1993 and 1999.
Today, he lives with his wife and three children in Scottsdale, AZ, coaching minor league hockey and involved in many businesses.
